
“Hong Kong Through Cat’s Eye” Rapee Bedding Design Competition
The organizer "rapee-LIVING 斗室" and co-organizers "Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI)", "Hong Kong Society of Illustrators (HKSI)" and "Cat Society" jointly organized the "Hong Kong Through Cat’s Eye" Rapee Bedding Design Competition.
The award-winning artwork of this competition from the Open Category with a possibility of launch of award-winning products at the "rapee-LIVING" retail outlets at a later time, and part of the proceeds will be donated to the "Cat Society" for charitable purposes.

"Hong Kong Through Cat’s Eye" - Using the elements of "cat" and "Hong Kong culture" as a design concept to create a unique blueprint of Hong Kong according to each individual's mind.

- Collect and promote different concepts of Hong Kong culture in various aspects
- Allow cat lovers’ bedding design to be launched as products while a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the "Cat Society" for charitable purposes.

【Student Category】
- Champion: HKD $4,000 cash, one-year Adobe Creative Cloud membership, and a certificate (with a possibility of launch of award-winning products)
- First Runner-up: HKD $3,000 cash, one-year Clip Studio Paint Pro membership, and a certificate
- Second Runner-up: HKD $2,000 cash and a certificate
- Third Runner-up: HKD $1,000 cash and a certificate
【Open Category】
- Champion: HKD $10,000 cash, Wacom One drawing tablet, and a certificate (with a possibility of launch of award-winning products)
- First Runner-up: HKD $5,000 cash, Apple Pencil (2nd generation), and a certificate
- Second Runner-up: HKD $3,000 cash and a certificate
- Third Runner-up: HKD $2,000 cash and a certificate
5.2 Eligibility
- Student category: Students that are currently enrolled in the "Hong Kong Design Institute"
- Open category: Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above
5.3 Specifications and Notes for Works
Format: JPG, Adobe Illustrator (AI), or Adobe Photoshop (PSD)
Resolution: Size of two A3 size images, 350dpi or above, the former as the main illustration, and the latter as the pattern for the back of the blanket (as shown in the diagram)
Illustration requirements: Create artworks with elements of ‘Hong Kong culture’ and ‘cats’ by using 10 solid colors (white is considered as one solid color)
- Submissions can be in JPG, Adobe Illustrator (AI), or Adobe Photoshop (PSD) format, and please keep the original file of award-winning artworks for production or printing purposes in events like exhibition
- Due to printing restrictions, a maximum of 10 colors or solid colors can be used in the artwork (white is considered as one solid color)
- Please reserve the character and background layers in the original file for production convenience
- Artworks produced by AI Art Generator / ChatGPT will not be accepted
- Use of CMYK color mode for output is recommended
- All submitted artworks must be the original work of participants and should not have been released on any platform.
- Once the artworks are submitted, this indicates that participants agree with the display and exhibit of works through any methods and time, without further consent from the participants.
- The following artworks will be disqualified: photos obtained in violation of the rights of others; photos containing pornography, nudity, obscenity, violence and other controversialness, including photos of politics, war, or inappropriate subjects; photos involving harassment, disrespect or destruction of the environment; photos that threaten the safety of individuals or animals.
- The organizers reserves the right to make the final decision on the qualification for the competition

5.8 Deadline

**Participants will receive a confirmation email with a submission link attached within 7 working days after the application deadline
5.9 Announcement of Results
The competition results will be announced in late January 2024 on the "rapee-LIVING 斗室 Facebook" official page. Awardees will be individually invited to attend the award ceremony to introduce their artworks and share their design insights.
5.10 Copyright
- Participants must comply with relevant copyright laws. If participants are found to infringe on copyright or commit other related offenses, including but not limited to submitting borrowed, reproduced, copied, or counterfeit entries, their eligibility will be disqualified. Participants shall bear their own legal responsibilities, and any legal disputes shall not be related to the organizers.
- Participants must agree that the organizers reserve the right to reproduce, use, embellish, display, publish, and distribute the submitted artworks, or distribute them through any media for publicity purposes, without remuneration or notice for a period of one year.
- Awardees must agree that the organizers have ownership of the intellectual property rights of the submitted artwork , which will be used for production and distributed, displayed, or published on any occasion for (but not limited to) the promotion of the bedding design, and no other brands will be granted the right to use the same design for a perpetual period.
- Upon completion of the application, participants must agree to all the above terms and conditions and do not reserve any release of any legal liability of the organizers for publication of works or agree to compensate for any losses incurred by the organizers due to violation of regulations
5.11 Personal Data Collection Statement
- Personal data is voluntarily provided by participants and will only be used for participation in the "Hong Kong Through Cat’s Eye" Bedding Design Competition. The data will only be viewed by personnel handling the application for approval, contact, and related purposes.
